We recently marked the very special 120th Birthday of Sybil Andrews and there was no better way to celebrate than spending it with some of her family.
We have been very privileged to host The Arts Society Bury St Edmunds Golden Jubilee Celebration which was a truly memorable event, and were delighted to welcome along the Mayor of St Edmundsbury, members of the Arts Society and our students family and friends.
Sybil Andrews Academy is very pleased to announce that we have now completed the first stage of our Artsmark journey and have successfully joined the Artsmark community!
A previous winner of a national teacher of the year award has been appointed as the new interim headteacher at Sybil Andrews Academy.
We are delighted to have welcomed Alfie Carpenter into school as our Artist in Residence, to celebrate the Golden Jubilee of the Bury Arts Society. Alfie has worked alongside a group of students to respond to their view of Suffolk and the school community.
Some of our Year 8 Art students took part in an Art project set by Smiths Row to commeorate the 25th Anniversay of Sybil Andrews death and the opening of Bury St Edmunds railway station.
We had the pleasure of welcoming into school with us some students and their teachers who were visiting from a performing arts school in Shanghai. Our Language Leaders spent some time showing the students around to help them experience what life in a British School is like.
Well done to all the students who performed in our Christmas show 'Twas the Night before Christmas'. You all did an incredible job and your talents certainly shone through on the night. Thank you to all involved for making the show such a wonderful production.
Well done to all the Year 7's who took part in the Cambridge University Myths and Legends competition but in particular, Joshua who we are pleased to announce won the regional finals! Joshua worked incredibly hard on his Minotaur model and really impressed the judges with his entry.
