We are delighted to have welcomed Alfie Carpenter into school as our Artist in Residence, to celebrate the Golden Jubilee of the Bury Arts Society. Alfie has worked alongside a group of students to respond to their view of Suffolk and the school community.
Some of our Year 8 Art students took part in an Art project set by Smiths Row to commeorate the 25th Anniversay of Sybil Andrews death and the opening of Bury St Edmunds railway station. Students were invited to think about how railway posters were used to attract tourists to towns and cities and produce a design to promote Bury St Edmunds.
We had the pleasure of welcoming into school with us some students and their teachers who were visiting from a performing arts school in Shanghai. Our Language Leaders spent some time showing the students around to help them experience what life in a British School is like. Whilst visiting, the students also took part in various activities including teaching us some Mandarin and taking part in a British-Chinese Performing Arts activity.
Well done to all the students who performed in our Christmas show 'Twas the Night before Christmas'. You all did an incredible job and your talents certainly shone through on the night. Thank you to all involved for making the show such a wonderful production. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Well done to all the Year 7's who took part in the Cambridge University Myths and Legends competition but in particular, Joshua who we are pleased to announce won the regional finals! Joshua worked incredibly hard on his Minotaur model and really impressed the judges with his entry. The girls team, Esme, Ruby, Amy, Isabella and Emily also got an honourable mention for their stop motion video!
