Post: Attendance Officer

Start date: ASAP

Salary: Grade 4 - £19,819 per annum (pro rata)

Location: Sybil Andrews Academy, Bury St Edmunds

Contract type: 37 hours per week / 39 weeks per year 

Contract term: Permanent

Sybil Andrews Academy opened in September 2016 and we are rapidly expanding as the school grows.  As part of Unity Schools Partnership we can offer vast opportunities to collaborate with colleagues and to enable professional development and career progression. 

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and conscientious Attendance Officer to fulfil a key role in our school.

Duties will include:

  • Keeping a thorough and accurate record of student attendance and absences;
  • Contacting parents if a child has not presented themselves at the school;
  • Working alongside the Heads of Year and Suffolk County Council Educational Welfare Officer to improve attendance of students;
  • Tracking attendance by key groups;
  • Producing reports for the Senior Leadership Team;

Management of student files for starters and leavers including monthly reports to Suffolk County Council.

Post: Student Support Receptionist

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, conscientious and friendly receptionist for our Student Support area to fulfil a key role in our school.

Duties will include:

  • Being the first point of contact for student queries.
  • Responsible for running medical services for students including providing basic first aid (training provided), logging all students who have been treated and keeping a medication log.
  • Ordering uniform and informing parents when items are ready to collect. 
  • Being responsible for items confiscated from students. 
  • Providing administrative support to the schools administrative team including writing letters and calling parents when required.

Post: Invigilators

Start date: Autumn Term 2018

Salary: £8.82 per hour

Contract Type: Casual Contract

Sybil Andrews Academy is looking to develop a team of high quality examination invigilators to cover internal and external exams. Being part of this team will involve supervising examinations to make sure that all regulations are adhered to and helping with related administration such as preparing scripts for dispatch to the examining board.

Training will be given in advance of the examination period starting. No experience is necessary, however invigilators have to be:-

·         Able to support students in a potentially stressful examination environment

·         Punctual, calm, responsible and organised

·         Able to work in a position of some authority

Invigilators are required from November 2018 however the main examination period starts at the beginning of May and finishes at the end of June. Other examinations occur at different times throughout the year. Hours are flexible and most sessions take place between 9.00am and 4.00pm.

A position such as this would suit a person wanting part time work at different times in the year.
